Mini Chest of Drawers

I made this Mini Chest of Drawers from wooden crates.

You just need to get wooden crates of 2 sizes and make sure the smaller one fits into the bigger one. You will also need something as the handle so you can pull out the 'drawer'. I used a wooden clothes peg. Glue it on and that's one. Simple as that.

The rest of the decoration is up to your imagination. For the time being, I'm leaving my chest of drawers as it is till I have time to work further on it.

Macaron Bag Charm

Finally found time to do some sewing. Dug up my sewing stuff collection and found materials I can used to make a Macaron Purse.

I decided to add lace to the inside and turned it to a ring holder instead. Then I attached a chain and turned it to a bag charm.

Although I didn't plan how I wanted the Macaron Purse to be, I pretty glad with the outcome.

 

It can fit 2 to 4 rings (depending the carats LOL) ;)

Flower on Stick

We prepared this year's Teachers' Day gift earlier cos the kids don't have much time next year. I'm glad we started making them earlier as they told me early this week that they both missed out some teachers that they wanted to give too.

My friend was so kinds as to help me go to the store I bought the pot for the gift (please see previous post) yesterday. Unfortunately, the pots are out of stock.

At such, I'm using whatever materials I have to do the extra gifts. This requires lesser work. It can be used as a bookmark or just a deco.

A Pot of Hearts

The is the little gift the kids and I did for this coming Teachers' Day. I had this idea for a while and was looking around for a suitable pot. Glad the idea was workable. I had initially planned to add a butterfly but it was too big. Hence, I left the butterfly out.

The kids told me early this week that they missed out some of their teachers and have to make more. However, the pots are out of stock. We did something else instead (please see next post). They will have to decided which to give to which teachers.

I stuff the pot with dry sponge that is used by florist for flower arrangements and covered it by sticking fake grass on the sponge using glue. I bought items from a florist sometime back. These are the balance from my old projects.

The hearts are punched out using craft punch. I get the kids to stick 2 hearts with a thin wire in-between. And they stick those into the pot. I added some cute colourful pom-poms as deco too. Wire and pots are from Art-Friend (pots are out of stock). Pom-poms are from Daiso. The messages are written on a thin Ice-cream stick I found in my 'treasure-box'. Can't remember where I got them from though.

Crochet Hearts Ornaments

I used some left over yarn to make more hearts and tread a ribbon at the top so the heart could be hang up. I was thinking using it for some home deco project. However, my daughter insist on giving them to her enrichment teachers on her last day there.

Salt Dough Name Plate

This is a little project I did with my daughter. It's a little gift for her teacher for the hard work she put in on the dance item for their Annual Graduation Ceremony cum Concert.

We used salt dough to make alphabets. Painted it and glued it to the wooden plate. No prize for guessing what's her teacher's name. ;)

IKEA Hack - Shoe Box

I bought a 3 IKEA Children storage bench when it was $19. We are moving to a new place and I decided to use one of the bench as a shoe box to be placed outside our house.

I added a handle to the cover and hinges so the kids can easily lift up the cover with the handle and not having to carry the cover. I also added legs to the base of the box so it will not be soaked in water when the town council do their regular washing.

As the wood was untreated, I painted it in white. The decals seen were previously on my mirror. I removed them and reused them on the box.

The wire shelves in the box are actually freestanding shelf insert for cabinet. They are placed in the box as shoe shelves. All accessories used were bought from Daiso.

Yoyo Flowers

I made an assortment of yo-yo and glued them to magnets, pegs and pens as gifts for teachers for Teacher's Day.

IKEA Hack - Jewelled Clock

Like the DIY camouflage clock and DIY Food Clock, this simple clock here is also done using the IKEA RUSCH wall clock.

I reused the original numbered clock face by reversing it. I glued faux rhinestones to replace the numbers. Faux rhinestones are glued around the outer case of the clock as well as the hands too. The second hand has a flower on it, so the flower moves by the second.

Ladybird Stopper

I made the boring stopper for my soap dispenser refill into something more interesting.

I painted the stopper using puff paint and waited for it to dry before I add another coat of puff paint. I glued googly eyes and used a black marker for the spots.

Soap Refill Hack

This is a post on a hack on a soap refill for an auto soap dispenser.

I cut an hole on the top of the plastic refill using a heated cutter and smoothed the rough edge by carefully melting it with a light. I used a stopper to cover the opening which only cost me 10cents.

Now I just need to top up with normal hand soap instead of buying the original refill just to use the dispenser. 

Personalised Pen

I did this for a wonderful teacher who will be leaving after tomorrow. Hopefully, we will be able to see him back in school after his studies. He will be dearly missed.

I'm not very good coming up with ideas for guy's stuff so I thought I'll attempt to do name weaving on a pen. Passable results, I think. Hopefully, he likes it.

Red Heart

I did crochet heart by trial and error and was really glad it turn out well on my second trial. I have not decided what to do with it yet and is keeping it for further use.

Strawberry Charm

A simple crochet strawberry and a seemly strawberry flower with a crystal in the middle. I did not have a suitable colour for the flower, hence I used x-stitch thread (the closest I have) for it instead. I attached a hooked to the top so it can be used as a charm.

Watch Strap

I have a vintage watch which belongs to my late grandma. The leather strap that comes with it was worn out and broke. I haven't been able to get a replace for it. Hence, I made one with Velcro to make it easy to put on.

Cork Board Magnet

I recycled my cork board material placemat to make this. I glued 3 thin pieces of the placemat together to make it thicker. I also glued a piece of magnet sheet to the back so it can stick on metal surface and glued ribbon around the edge to make it looks neater. This measures L12cm x W6cm x D1cm.

Tulip Hat

Hand sewn reversible tulip hat using 2 identical fabric in different base colour. I sewed lace around one side of the hat and attached a fabric flower with fabric button using the two same fabric.

IKEA Hack - DIY Food Clock

Like the DIY camouflage clock, this clock here is also done using the IKEA RUSCH wall clock.There is lesser work for this though. I used a paper with watermark-like tomato image for the face and the rest are stickers. The strawberry in the middle is on the second hand and hence, it's movable. The wordings are stick on the outside of the cover to give it a 'floating' effect.

IKEA Hack - DIY Camouflage Clock

This original clock was an all white with black numbers IKEA RUSCH wall clock. I removed all the parts and spray the body blue. I used a nylon camouflage cloth for the face and added neon dots for the hands so they will stand-out/glow in the dark. The numbers used were self-printed, cut-out and stick-on to the face of the clock.

Cupcake Finger Pin Cushion

Simple pin cushion done by assembling scrap cloth, fiber stuffing and a plastic bottle cap together. I glued lace outside the bottle cap to make it look like the pleated paper cup and added some beads to resemble the hundreds and thousands. I drilled 2 holes on the bottle cap and tied a elastic band at the bottom so I can use it as a ring.
